Have you been shopping at The LAB lately? I stopped by recently to see what’s new at the iconic Anti-Mall, and found a sweet surprise: Prism Boutique.
Just like its namesake, Prism Boutique at The LAB captures all of the light and separates it into a gorgeous array of colorful goodness.
Each display shows off a carefully curated story of unique and delightful items—from chic clothing and funky shoes to quirky stationery and jars of delectable bath and body products.
It feels more like you’re in your cool, free-spirited and fashionable best friend’s closet. And that’s by design.
Owner Dayna Mance welcomes me warmly as I get lost in the color-filled displays. She tells me she always wanted her own store—and now she’s got two. One in Belmont Heights and one right here in Costa Mesa.

The LAB location opened up this past summer, right in the center of the mix between Crew, Gypsy Den and Pop Bar.
“This is everything I like,” says Dayna proudly, and you can tell. Every single item is thoughtfully placed, from the most delicate tiny gold earrings on the counter to the bright, tropical patterned dresses hanging by the door.
“We’re lucky we live so close to such a huge fashion hub like LA,” she says, and tells me about a handful of the local makers carried in Prism, from Knot Sisters clothing and Little Shop of Oils apothecary to Soba Studio leather and Luna Reece Ceramics.
“I’m always shopping,” Dayna laughs. “Prism is always evolving, and we’re always looking for something new to feature.”

Dayna likes to highlight local artisans whenever possible, and mentions that she often hosts pop-up and weekend events to showcase fashionable finds.
Recently, Prism Boutique hosted an event at The LAB featuring succulents, ceramics, and watercolors that was a huge hit. “We like to create a community around our stores, so there is really something for everyone.”
I’m listening to Dayna but I’m easily distracted; standing here in Prism surrounded by so many beautiful things is making my wallet itch. Nearby, there is a shirt I love that proudly proclaims “Never underestimate the power of a woman,” right next to a stack of gorgeous leather-bound journals and some natural perfume that smells amazing.
If you’re more into shopping from the comfort of your own couch, or want to see what’s new before you come in person, Prism has got you covered. Their online boutique features the latest and greatest from both locations, and they’ll ship it to you lightning fast, too.

But if you do walk through the doors of Prism, there’s a good chance you’ll meet Dayna. While she splits her time between the Costa Mesa and Long Beach shops, she loves the vibe of The LAB and she’s exactly where she wants to be.
“This neighborhood has so may artistic elements that are interesting in different ways,” says Dayna. “It’s really unique. You don’t see shopping malls like this anymore!”
It’s not just The LAB, it’s this whole ‘hood. “SoBeCa is changing, growing and evolving, and I want to be a part of it.”
She’s right—the eclectic, artsy vibe of The LAB hasn’t gone away, it’s just become something better. A little edgy, a bit cheeky, and super chill.
“I work really hard but I love what I do,” she says with a grin, swinging on a giant porch swing just steps away from Prism’s front door.
When you step inside, you’ll be stepping into Dayna Mance’s daydream. ♥
