Note: This post is part of an ongoing blog series called #costamesa365 where the author is striving to shop only* in her city of Costa Mesa, for a year.

Earlier this month, I connected with Madison from FitNFlow.

It’s a new app she’s created. A sort of “Uber for yoga” here in Southern California.

With FitNFlow, you can order up a yoga instructor to come to your home, office, backyard or other outdoor location and flow with you. I was intrigued!

As a die-hard runner, I don’t really know my “down dog” from a hot dog. I have never actually done yoga. But when Madison offered a free demo class for me, my friends – and our kids could join in, too – I jumped at the chance to try it!

So we grabbed some beach towels and met Madison down at Balearic Park in Costa Mesa. The weather was nice and it was a beautiful day to learn.

Madison kept the class nice and easy for the kids – oh, and those of us that were beginners – but she said you can request any level you’d like when you book your instructor.

I think what I liked best about the demo was that we could find our flow outdoors.

I’m not much for gym workouts. Being outdoors is one of my favorite reasons to run! So I think I could actually get into yoga if nature itself was my studio.

Afterwards, I definitely felt more flexible and tired in muscles I don’t normally use. My friends and I want to start incorporating FitNFlow into our routine at least once a month. If we all split the cost of the instructor, it’s actually really affordable!

I went to the app to check availability, but there are currently no instructors based in Costa Mesa. Oh no! Not #costamesa365 approved.

If I want to find my outdoor flow with friends, I’ll need a Costa Mesa yogi, first. So if you know of any, please send them our way.

Word is that yoga is a really great supplement to running and I could definitely use the stretch, both in my legs and in my life.

Namaste.

*We will always start by shopping / looking in Costa Mesa, first. But if we really need something and an alternative is nowhere to be found in Costa Mesa, we’ll stray. Also, as parents, we’ve decided that certain kid-related things (mainly educational) will need to remain baked in.
